Dr. Tan received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of East College of Medicine in Manila, Philippines, and completed his psychiatric training at the historic St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington D.C., where he became Chief Resident. His mentors included faculty members, psychoanalysts, prominent psychiatrists, and neuroscientists at the National Institute of Mental Health. He chose community psychiatry as his focus of clinical practice and has served as medical director at Aspire Health Partners (formerly Lakeside Behavior Healthcare) from 2004-2019. As Medical Director, he was instrumental in establishing Judge Belvin Perry Jr. Central Receiving Center in 2003, providing administrative and clinical services till 2017. From 2004-2019 Dr. Tan served as a medical director/ psychiatrist to the chronically and persistently ill patients of the first Florida Assertive Community Treatment Team (FACT) in Florida. He is a volunteer faculty member at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine since 2011 and has received Excellence in Teaching Award for Best Psychiatry Clerkship Teacher in 2012& 2013.
Dr. Tan brings his experience and passion in the field of mental health to the Center for Adult Psychiatry family for the benefit of the community.
